Today’s Reading: Lamentations 5

I love HGTV.  One of my favorite shows is “Rehab Addict”.  It features Nicole Curtis, a self-taught home rehabber who has a passion for saving old houses.  It is incredible to watch the transformation as Nicole takes ramshackle homes from the wrecking ball to their original stunning glory.  Lamentations 5 highlights Jeremiah’s cry and appeal for God to restore Israel to her former glory.  “LORD, remember what has happened to us.  See how we have been disgraced!” (v. 1).  This is a cry, an appeal for God to restore Israel.  His belief is that even though God has allowed them to endure this suffering because of their sin, He will restore them.  He will return them to their glory.  So he cries out.  “But lord, you remain the same forever!  Your throne continues from generation to generation.  Why do you continue to forget us?  Why have you abandoned us for so long?  Restore us, O  Lord, and bring us back to you again!  Give us back the joys we once had!” (v. 19-22).  Jeremiah is trusting that God is a Rehab Addict.  He is believing that God takes pleasure in taking what looks like wrecked situations and transforming them for His glory.  Cry out to God today and trust that He is the ultimate Rehab Addict.  He has demonstrated through Jesus that He is committed to Transforming ravaged lives for His glory.

Spiritual Nugget: God can transform mess into a masterpiece.
